Carving out an identity through their brand ethos, founders Mokam Singh and Siddhant Sabharwal compose a store at the forefront of ‘breaking the boundaries’. Working closely with architects Prakhar Jain and Shivangi Sharma of Metanoia Designs, Bluorng’s stores deliver a minimalistic aura against exclusive streetwear pieces. With the launch of their first studio in Delhi in 2020, they have exponentially expanded their reach with consequent stores in Mumbai and Hyderabad over the last three years.
Every piece of clothing is translated as an artwork. Similar to the concept of white walls of a museum, the washed in the store are considered neutral spaces, and the striking pieces as enticing artworks.
Their old Delhi store featured a serpentine metal pipe as the focal design element. The metal pipe moved through the space and fulfils multiple functions like serving as a hanger rod, moving on to become a ceiling sculpture, continuing to become a mirror frame, and then finally onto transforming into a curtain rod for the changing room.
Their new flagship store in the Greater Kailash region of Delhi grapples with chunky volumes and floating bridges. The display area consists of varyingly sized cuboidal volumes arranged in labyrinthine orientations. These are spaces designed with minimal furniture, to allow free movement, and balance the substantiality of the pieces. To the founders, good design is design that has a sense of positive and negative space. The maze of volumes is accompanied by a suspended metal ramp that runs between walls, accessible through a double-door with a metallic sheen.
The achromatic nature is carried forward to their Mumbai and Hyderabad store, where blank galleries, and solid structures creating a winding movement, link the plethora of their stores together.
